Little Charlie is now free, he has received the ultimate Blessing, it is us who we weep for, and although his parents are suffering now and need our prayer support, that the mighty hand of God will stretch forth and comfort them, we need to be praying for them the State was and is wrong in what they did, and although there will be little done about the judges and lawyers, God will eventually hold them accountable. Nonetheless, it is our Christian obligation now to invoke the Grace of God on the heads of those family members, God to anoint them and give them comfort and peace know that little Charlie is out of reach of the suffering and vileness of this evil world. God’s comfort knows no end, and is applied to the hearts who rightfully seek it, and morn little Charlie.

I agreed 100% with Mr. McGurn’s perspective, and had some additional thoughts/perspective to add regarding this tragic story.
Let’s go back to 1930’s Germany. Hitler went through the hospitals and killed the old, the sick, the infirm, and the disabled. Family and friends of loved ones who they expected to return home or at least be cared for in the health institutions of that era, never saw them again. Essentially, the “undesirables” of society ended up as part of the millions killed in the Holocaust. Too few people study Germany and the changes in her cultural institutions before World War II, but that’s critical to ultimately understanding the onset of that war.
