Where Are You?

The Church Under Persecution

This blog may be considered an open letter to the Christian Church, (all-inclusive), the universal church of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Collectively, that would mean all who are born again, regenerated, redeemed by Christ believer.  Whatever your relational position is with the Savior, only you can know.  It is time for us, (as professing Christians), to examine ourselves, instead of just going along with the flow of the world and the various forms of progressive religion, including those who are of false teachers; their motivation is of the world and not the Kingdom of God.

I classify to whom I write this article because things of the spirit are not understood except by the Spirit.  That is why each individual born into this world, is born with a “measure of faith that they may first believe.”  To the non-believer to read this would be a total waist of time, because you will not understand what I am talking about, or attempting to convey to my fellow believer.

Over the years of my ministry there have been those who have attempted to lend credibility to their conversation by saying that they have studied the Bible and know Jesus, but yet persecute Christianity and the deny the deity of Christ, the authority of the Bible, and the Bible as being the divine and special revelation of God.  When I encounter individuals that are obviously challenging my belief as hieratical or to push their argument that there is no God, it is time to remind them that the demons and devils know who Christ is, and know scripture better than I or most scholars.  Nonetheless, the demons and devils do not have a loving relationship in their intimacy and knowledge of the savior, they may know the Bible, but have no understanding of it being the living word of God.  They cannot unless they have the indwelling of the Holy Ghost, whom Christ sent to teach us all things, to comfort, to guide, convict, and bless us.

With that said, let us continue with what is happening, and will continue to worsen over the next couple of years if the Christians do not “repent,” change direction and move in the direction of God.  Christians have followed the Pied Piper of this world.  I do not know if it is out of fear of being called names, or mocked, or outright lied about, perhaps it is political correctness, or the intimidation from progressives and liberal politicians, what reason do Christians have for not standing up for Jesus?  Some quote the Bible, “turn the other cheek,” “live by the sword, die by the sword,” “Jesus said we would be hated and persecuted,”  and to these and many more I agree, nonetheless, for the life of me, I do not see where any of these tell me that I am not to stand firm and defend my faith!  Nowhere, does the Bible tell me I am to compromise my faith, or the Word of God; what is happening Christian, are you so ashamed of Jesus that you deny Him, as Peter did?

It is not politically correct to make the claim that America is a ‘Christian’ nation.  The Atheists and liberals have brainwashed many Americans into believing or going along with extremism from the liberal side is not a bad thing, only Christianity is bad; that sin can be free to enslave Americans.  It did not start with Obama, it started nearly fifty years ago, however, it has become more obvious and intensified under Obama’s watch.  Notice that the Christian denominations that have compromised their faith, and the basis of their faith are never mentioned in any of the Obama assault on Christianity.  Ever wonder why it is, those denominations that oppose the president’s ideology and agenda are tagged and found on a terror watch list from Home Land Security, (military’s), such as Catholics, and Evangelical Christians?  They have classified Christians above the Muslim Brotherhood.

The report that the Southern Baptist Convention’s web site was blocked from military bases is the one that really bent my nose a bit.  The scraping off Bible verses from the rifles and the presentation of anti-Christian content to the National Guard.  The lame excuses that this government has come up with as to why, is just plain fabrications of truth.

The political correctness “protocol”, social injustice, racism, intolerance, school curriculum, Christianity from the public square, attempt to re-right history, and all the recent campaigns against Christianity, leaves little doubt that we are intentionally being persecuted by liberal and progressive politics from both sides of the isle who are New Ager Gnostics.  The ones who are not under attack are the ones that have compromised the faith, and embraced liberal and liberation theologies, and heretic ideologies.

The title and original question of this blog is “Where Are You?”  This is to mean just that.  As a Christian, where am I?  Where are you?

The first church…  Ephesus became the ‘loveless church.’  Not so much as the love to one another, or the horizontal love for humankind, but through their discipline and work, they had lost their intimate love for the Lord.

The second church…  Smyrna became the ‘persecuted church.’  Even though they were persecuted put into prison and tested they did not waiver or give in.  Jesus gives us hope and purpose in our persecution and tribulation even unto death.  The crown of life!

The third church…   Pergamos became the ‘compromising church.’   Compromise, when we compromise the basic foundations of the church, as it was then with false doctrines, that of Balaam or of Nicolaitans (the followers of Nicolas the unbelieving deacon), or of the Gnostics, liberal theologies, liberation theology, Atheist, or progressive politics, we have compromised the faith.

The fourth church… Thyatira became the ‘corrupt church.’  The woman Jezebel, (Jezebel being used by Jesus as a type of woman), teaching sexual immorality and other false doctrines, nonetheless the sexual immorality seems to be the main point of the corrupt church, because of such we have another tool of Satan to tear down the value of marriage, and the family unit.  How are you with homosexuality? Gay marriage? It is here where we need to really examine ourselves as to why?  Why have we lost the battle in this area?  Could it be, that we started to condemn the person and not the sin?  The Christian should look at the sin and not the sinner, and what that sin does to the value of marriage and the family.

The fifth church…  Sardis became the ‘dead church.’  I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.  If we are not demanding that we are actively involved in outreach, if we are not furthering the growth of the Kingdom, if we are not speaking up with our testimony, or living a life that reflects Jesus in us, we may well be dead.

The sixth church…  Philadelphia the ‘faithful church.’   “these things says He who is holy He who is true,” He who has the key of David, He who opens and none shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: I know your works, see I have set before you an open door, that no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept my word, and have not denied My name.  Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie – indeed I will make them come and worship before our feet; and to know that I have loved you.  Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.  Behold I come quickly!  Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.  He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more.  I will write on him the name of My God and the mane of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God.  And I will write on him My new name.  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Where do I fit in this church condition?  WOW!   Am I keeping Jesus’ command to persevere? That means keeping on keeping on!  When all that is going on around us is ever intensifying am I hiding out, or am I continuing to push back!

The seventh church…  Laodicea became the “Lukewarm church.”  ‘I know your works, that you are neither cold or hot.  I could wish you were cold or hot.  So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth.  Jesus is here saying that the lukewarm Christian makes him sick!  It took over four years to find a church where the pastor keeps me fired up about the faith!  There are two other retired pastors who have joined this church, and the reason we have is because we are spiritually challenged to stand fast in the faith and keep on keeping on serving our Lord.

It is my heartfelt suggestion, that anyone who reads this and is a born again Christian, go to the book of Revelation, chapter 2 – 3 read and then study each of them see who

Where Satan Has His Throne
Where Satan Has His Throne

searches your “mind and heart” who knows you better than you know yourself.  Make an informed analysis of what you find in your spirit, take the steps to repent and grasp the opportunity to stand fast in the faith.

Evil visits where evil exists..

Evil visited Boston

Americans being Americans
Americans being Americans

By: R.S. Helms

First, our prayers go out to the injured victims, and the families who lost loved ones in this cowardly act of evil

On Tuesday afternoon, the world viewed the aftermath of evil, the detonation of two bombs in a crowd gathered for the running of the Boston Marathon.  As we watched the horrific seines run repeatedly, we also heard the TV commentators repeatedly tell the story of the mayhem that was unfolding before them.  reminding us that the person or persons responsible have not been identified, the devices are not identified, and in all the confusion; didn’t know if there was a third blast connected to the Marathon.

The sports reporters and their camera crews covered the initial coverage of the bloody carnage, and after some confusion and recovery from the initial shock, they did an excellent job.  The commentary from the sports reporters was more about what we could see happening; and what was happening was Americans being Americans.  Some of the runners turned back into the smoke filled streets to lend aid to some of the victims, offering comfort and encouragement, trying to stop bleeding, treating for shock and the list goes on.  Not only was the athletes giving aid, strangers there to watch the finish, perhaps waiting for a loved one or a friend to sprint across, now found themselves being the actual first responder to the victims.

The runners who were just entering the last distance of the race remember seeing the cloud of smoke, then the second blast nearer to them rocked the buildings along the route.  They stopped in bewilderment of what was happening, some thinking perhaps cannons were being fired, as the race is the major part of the celebration of Patriots Day.  Some then continued on, before they realized the crowd running from the point of the second blast, one runner said “I knew then that something very wrong was happening”  she kept running towards the blast dodging the fearful as they ran in the opposite direction.

This is a crisis that makes heroes out of ordinary Americans, it is a time when Americans come together to help, render aid, and simply hold a hand of a badly wounded victim, that evil had inflected upon another victim.  Heroes one and all, and should make Americans feel good about who they are.  There was no color, race, or creed barriers; not political agendas, no left or right, but Americans.

The official first responders started arriving on the scene like ants on an anthill, fire, EMT, police, and the National Guard showed up, all inclusively saving lives.  It is sad that these evil horrors happen, but when they do we witness heroes in the making, and watch the resilience of Americans to carry their brother; Neil Diamond put it to words; “He’s An’t Heavy, He’s my Brother.”

Why Seek Ye Among the Tomb

In just a couple days, it will be time for the greatest Christian celebration of the year, and I did promise my friend, I would go rabbit hunting, especially for the ones that cackle and lay chocolate eggs filled with goo.

In all seriousness, I will try to bring this Easter Celebration to this blog post.

agony and the crusifiction
To Suffer and Die for the SIN of ALL

He is risen, will be the theme in many churches across our nation, a great time to know you can be set free right now.  As I write on this Friday, over 2000 years ago, Jesus now felt the full weight of the sin of the world.  Then, came the overwhelming realization of the work he had come to complete and, which no other could complete; felt he the real abandonment of the father, cried in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?  Which is, being interpreted, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?

In the 19th chapter of St. John, verse 30: “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “’it is finished’; and he bowed his head and gave up the ghost.

So what does “He is Risen” mean for the average Joe/Jane walking down the street just trying to make it through life, and after all the Atheists tell us something else.  The Jew didn’t believe it then, so what does it do for me now?  Is not Christianity an antiquated religion?  I will admit that because of Jesus and the Christian faith, life in this country has been somewhat better than the rest of the world.  I doubt if now is the time for me to get too excited about Jesus.  Nevertheless, it’s your blog post and I am just an imaginary person you’re having a conversation with.

What “He is Risen” means to mankind and the individual is, when God created all that was created, and without him nothing was created, he created man.  Now the Atheist, and the Darwinist will tell us that it was all just an accidental explosion, like a big bang happening in the universe, and over the millions or perhaps billions of years, a couple or so, little microscopic elements got together and started the most minusculee twitching and everything just evolved from there.  Perhaps that is a bit too simple, (that is why Atheists understand it so well), but evolution is what Charles Darwin used to explain what he otherwise could not!

Humankind?  God created humankind Holy, just like him, Holy and pure in his image, never doing anything fun, daring, or just plain stupid and boring, another misconception in the liberal atheist mindset and propaganda.  Nevertheless, seeing God is the sovereign God, we, his creation, would have some rules to live by, but there was only one rule, one law.  …  “DO NOT EAT OF THE TREE IN THE MIDST OF THE GARDEN”!  Only one rule, … for living an obedient, productive life.  …  They could not get it right.  That was called the ‘fall of mankind’ from the holiness of God, to the, here’s a word that Atheist hate, (SINFUL nature of humankind).  God demanded instant condemnation of his creation, and being a holy and just God, he had to condemn for sin; and he did, thousands of years he did, yet they could not get the whole thing about sin and rebellion against the will of God, as deserving no condemnation.  What we do is SIN, how we do it is SINFUL, therefore, we deserve death and eternity alienated from the presence of God, just in his grace and love!

God's Demand of a Spotless Lamb
God’s Demand of a Spotless Lamb

Okay, so now because he is a God of a second chance, (truly the only real second chance), Jesus brings a covenant of grace to humankind.  The first covenant, was the covenant with Abram

(Abraham), and it would be based on faith and sacrifice.  BLOOD SACRIFICE, the blood of a ram or lamb, (in the Old Testament), without getting too technical about it, basically once a year the Hebrew (Jewish) children would gather and offer the blood of a ram for the atonement of sin, (there is that word again, sin is anything that separates a person from the undeserved favor of God).

So by the sin of one we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.  We are guilty, and need some way to get us out of the tough spot we find ourselves.  Okay, what we would need would be an advocate, a lawyer to represent us at the bar of judgment.  In the case before us, we find the advocate, or lawyer, is actually called ‘the redeemer’, because he redeems, somebody who redeems somebody or something, especially somebody who rescues another.  A blood sacrifice of a ‘spotless’ lamb, the only qualifier in the running was prophesized, (“ For unto us a child is born.  Unto us, a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Is. 9:6)).

My Sin and Your Sin put Jesus on the Cross
My Sin and Your Sin put Jesus on the Cross

A spotless paschal lamb, a blood sacrifice for the sin of the world. (humankind’s individual sin, and the original sin), and accomplished by the Grace (unwarranted love or favor of God), through faith in Jesus Christ!

Jesus is that redeemer, who is called the ‘Savior’ saving souls from the eternal separation from God.  …  Therefore, my imaginary friend, it is now time to ask whom Jesus is.  I only prompt this question because the name Jesus is not that popular any longer.  For over 2000 years it has not been popular, the world hated him and his own knew him not.  He was persecuted from infancy, but reminds us that he is the one who told us the world would persecute and hate us, because they hated him first.

Jesus is God.  The second person of the trinity, the person of the trinity (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost)  three separate personalities, or three separate persons.  Christians and Jews have a monotheistic belief system, different, but there is only one God.  But of course the Muslims believe in the same God.  Just different belief systems, Christians believe in an incarnate God who came to save the world from the bondage of sin.

There is no God … Therefore, no sin

I do not expect a ‘so called Atheist’ to even start to understand the truth of God, because without the Spirit, they understand nothing, about spiritual truth.  So to me they only present ignorant rhetoric; God calls this truism as a clouded or darkened understanding.  I call it a personal hate problem, and don’t consider the emptiness of their actual refusal of their own stupidity.  Maybe it is the cowardice of facing ownership to sin!

Okay, before I become totally sidetracked by Atheists, let us continue.  We have the fall of humanity from the undeserved favor of God.  That is sin and the wage for, (payment), sin brings about death, spiritual death.  When the fall happened to mankind, physical death was introduced.  Physical death is something that we will never escape, it will happen.  It is therefore of grave importance that I settle the SIN problem with God, and I am justified before his throne.  Being justified in Jesus, simply means, by the blood atonement wrought by Jesus, I have right of passage into the Kingdom of God, and to be in his presence for eternity or hereafter – forever – time without end.

Victory Over the Grave, and of Death
Victory Over the Grave, and of Death

The resurrection, when on the dawning of the first day of the week, (Sunday), the first day after the Sabbath, the women, and disciples visited the tomb and the large stone had been rolled away,

When they bowed down to peer in, they were told that Jesus had risen, he no longer was in the grave.  An inquiry from one woman follower, to whom she thought to be a gardener, brought such a loving compassionate answer, “ woman why do you seek the living among the dead?”

The resurrection of Jesus, was preformed through God’s  power, the Holy Ghost, God’s power; no third person, and it freed mankind from the bonds of death, there is no sting to death, there is no victory of death and the tomb.  The victory is ours over death and the tomb.  Jesus’ victory became a seal as well as a sign that the work of Jesus was finished.  His work of redemption, has justified the believer and redeemed the believer to God for eternity; the resurrection sealed that issue through the Holy Ghost.

I thank my imaginary friend for listening, (even though they may not have exercised that portion of faith that he/she has within ‘that they may first believe’), that is what Easter is all about, and that is what it could mean to you.

I refrained from quoting scripture verse by verse, especially for those who do not believe, if they wish, (and I hope they do), they need to get a Bible, and read the account of the suffering, death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, for themselves, —  make sure I am on track.

I celebrate Easter, because I know that I know, that I know, that Jesus has risen!  Therefore, I celebrate it as a high Christian celebration, and even enjoy a hardboiled egg with the children. (1Co. 9: 19 – 22)

God Bless…  Rev. R.S. Helms
