Standing in a Garage Don’t Make You a Cadillac …

Standing in the garage does not make you a Cadillac, or Saying you are a Christian Patriot does not make you a Patriot or a Christian.

I have often written of the ugly change in our culture, especially, where it deals with the Christian community and of course, the Political corruption of progressivism and socialism. It is quite true that mankind has always been destined to progress and move forward as he moved more and more toward God and that was from the time of the Garden lesson of God means what He says.
While writing my book, “A Splintered Nation and A Broken Church,” I went back to show the Christian intent of the Mayflower Pac, to not only protect Christians but, those non-believers who were readying the disembarking of the Ship and establishing the Colony. The government of that Colony knew they had to protect the non-believers from a state religion while protecting the religion of the Colony, it is my opinion, that it really was a matter of survival that they all commit to stay and make it through the winter and the next several years of building.
Nevertheless, as the book progresses through the political and protestant corruption on a hopscotch ride on the milk train, stopping at the points of particular interest with Presidents, Political Parties, and various battles in the Holy War waged by Satan against the Christian church which is real and continues to gain in intensity.
While writing my book, which I hope will open eyes of Christians and non-believers as well, about what the Holy War against Christianity has in a large part been enabled by Modernity, or rather a slow growth of liberalism, which over the past four decades has been effectively overtaken by socialism. However, there is no way that the majority of our nation would have simply given up our Sovereign Republic and Constitutional Freedoms for a Socialist regime and a Global Socialist Union.
Since the 60s with liberal celebrities who committed high treason during the Viet Nam war along with hot-dog John McCain or as some of his fellow prisoners of war called him “Songbird.” However, it is in the 60s that the Democrats had to make a decision in what to do about the Republican Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. a Black Baptist Pastor who had had enough of the Jim Crow laws of the Democratic South.
Dr. King was the public figure who was not a Democrat in the issue, The Democrats who had regained control of the South after Reconstruction. Oh yes, the Democrat Party – the founders of the KKK, the Southern States passing State Legislation which became known as the “Jim Crow” laws, the “Equal but no the same” Democrats. It was Dr. King that took the Civil Rights right to Washington. Kennedy had no way to go, so he went against his own party in the South, and won the loyalty of the blacks, that loyalty to the Democrat Party quickly became shackles and they once again were on a plantation – The Democrat Political Plantation.
For Dr. King’s participation, he was killed. For Kennedy, he was killed, and for his Brother the AG and sure winner of a campaign, he was killed as well. it does leave one to wonder how far the leaders of the Democrats would go, to keep the black citizens on a plantation, the Democrat plantation.
For five or so decades, one of the main things that have stood in the way of making this a socialist nation has been the church. Oh yes, Christian values and the defeat of our values meant that the Christians needed to be persecuted and the Bible discredited. That war started a long time ago, and one of the main issues for the founding of our nation, religious freedom, and all that goes along with it. It is not that God didn’t keep up with man’s advancements, He didn’t heave to, he didn’t have to change anything, the man simply needed to slow down and be blessed with the work of their hands and minds. Mankind needed to listen to God, and not fall to their own understanding.
The moral values of our nation stood in the way of evil progression. Moral values were written into the Constitution protecting the Christians and the non-Christian from the evil of the world. It has never been applied without flaw, the Constitution nor Christianity, however, without the Constitution and Christianity we would have been a communist union within just a few years after the 2nd world war and the formation of Socialist President FDR’s United Nations. Of course, he served more terms than any other president and yes, helped bring us out of a world depression.
But he was nevertheless, a socialist and when he put the United Nations together he had hopes that socialism would take hold and the world could be governed by one supreme government while keeping their identity and borders but the borders would be open and in addition to being the citizens of that nation we would, more importantly, be citizen-subjects of the world … in short a one world order and that is how the UN charter was originated under the façade of global peace.
Well my, my, my, that is a quandary because socialism to work would mean that no one is actually free. The First Amendment, Second and the rest would have to be subject to the UN Council of unelected officials. For the Christian, that would mean we would no longer be able to practice our religion, and for the Atheist? They would be in the same boat with no protection from a “state religion.” Perhaps, that is a bit too simply put, but truth be known true Christianity and socialism cannot be the bed-fellows that liberals falsely claim. Not that Christianity (as it presently is in its broken stage), is only compatible with Theocracy and that is not likely to happen until Jesus comes. Then, as promised it will work in total peace for a thousand years.
The reason for me joining the Black Robe Regiment was that it was a non-denominational Christian presence in our war on liberalism and corruption of government it was, what seemed to be a Christian “regiment,” in the American war against corruption/liberalism/socialism/globalism and all of its anti-American hoards. Patriot American Christians who stand for the Constitution and the sovereign free republic.
Of course, all Christians should be patriots although all patriots are not necessarily Christian, as a matter of theological fact, not all Christians are Christian. That fact is, or rather could be a problem for the Regiment to reach its potential in making a difference in the battle we face. So as Christians we must examine ourselves, whether we be in the faith; prove (test) ourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? (2Cor. 13:5 NKJV (my paraphrase).
I am not suggesting the Christians who are part of The Black Robe Regiment are not Christian, no not at all, as a matter of fact, it is my studied opinion that each is just what they say they are. I believe, they really want to get involved and commit to winning the war! Some joined to show support for the fighting regiment. The Regiment needs the support and more members who are committed to Jesus Christ and are patriotic conservatives with really thick skin!
I expect to be put out of the Black Robe Regiment because of my problem with liberalism. That is where our national problem is rooted. Christians have been persecuted since before they were first called Christians at Antioch. But, we can’t blame Jesus for not warning us, he said we would be persecuted for His name’s sake and that the world would hate us because it hated Him first.
It is said that more than half of the professing Christians don’t ever vote, and that of those most are not even registered to vote. For some reason, as Christians, they don’t consider it an obligation to vote even engage in politics what so ever. Could it be, that liberalism has intimidated them into believing Hugo Blacks Supreme Court Decision about Church and State? Or maybe when the Supreme Court Decision to okay the execution of millions of unborn children? Perhaps it could have been the embarrassment of Prohibition brought on by the Christian temperance ladies.
Christianity and over zealous preachers and leaders have made some huge mistakes since landing in Boston Harbor, and that is to be accepted and considered a lesson in how not to delineate the love of Jesus to people not of the church. Speaking of the church, well, I would refer to the Seven Churches of Asia Minor, and how, like the Hebrew Children had such a hard time getting it right. The church like a pendulum swings to and fro on “saved to by grace through faith unto good works. We have some sort of problem with church doctrines and of course, what we should be doing in Biblical doctrines.
Since the landing at Boston Harbor, the Christian church has been hot and cold, and instead of sticking to the Bible we as Christians have followed after our own appetites and although in most cases that has been trying to please God and man at the same time and that is impossible as you may well know. No, our problem is sort of explained in the Seven Deadly Sins and having an easy church is one huge calling card.
Most people I know, Christian or otherwise, don’t find a great joy in being persecuted and all the name calling, and just ugliness of persecution is enough to make the strongest of souls get rather jellied. Since the 60s the world has made deep erodes into the Bible-believing church. Liberalism has brought back the liberal theology (updated), and one of the big reasons for such a broken church in America today. I will try to stay clear of the liberal theology argument and its harm to conservative Christianity, and deal with organizing Christians to take up arms against the enemy.
The “arms” in this situation is the double-edged sword and the second weapon is the vote. The enemy is far more than political ideologies, it is the root of all destruction, it is Lucifer, or rather, Satan and in my opinion the author of socialism, liberalism, liberation theology, and social justice ideologies. Ideologies that are found in a Global Socialist Union. Just one plan of thousands that the diabolical Satan has to draw on in his war against Jesus and His Church, against the guaranteed freedom of religious expression.
My endeavor, my passion is Jesus Christ, Jesus of the Bible, the Bible as the living Word of God. It is also my endeavor to protect not only religious freedom but to protect our Constitution and our sovereign free republic. The United States was founded on Christian principles fact and not as the liberals have spent 5 – 6 decades trying their level best to discredit the Christian faith, the Bible, and the Christian connection to the Founding Fathers and the Constitution. Liberals deny the religious freedom and use Justice Hugo Black’s “Separation of Church and State” decision to start the persecution of the Christian faith.
The Christian faith at this point is in critical need of another great awakening. A revival that the Christian may repent and return to our first love, the love for Christ and the excitement of being set free … “saved by grace through faith unto good works” don’t know about you but that was my first love, my first real commitment was as a young man leaving Highschool and taking the Oath of Service (office) in the Army, that oath was not infringed until my total commitment to Jesus and the Christian faith. Both were more than a head knowledge both were made from the heart. Revival is awakening that same excitement and renewing the nearly forgotten commitment. The Black Robe Regiment is the place for you to commit to pick up arms and commit to fighting head-on in a Holy War and not an easy war.
Vote go out and vote! Vote Red, vote conservative, report any suspicions of voter fraud!
Then go and check out the Black Robe Regiment … join … and pick up your cross and follow Jesus. Commit to the revival in our nation and restore our land as a Christian nation.
Many Christians wrongly think they are not supposed to get involved in politics. It is my studied opinion that not only are we supposed to get involved but are obligated to get involved, otherwise, dear Christian we get what we presently have, Broken Church and that is not what Jesus wants and is reflected in His Seven Churches of Asia Minor. Our lack of or fear of involvement has given us the liberal theology churches where it is E-A-S-Y church. liberal theology churches can be found in the five condemned by Jesus.
I may not be long for the Black Robe Regiment because of my disdain for liberal theology and liberation theology. If your church does not have in its mission statement the inerrancy, the infallibility of the Word of God, The Deity of Jesus Christ, and Salvation by Grace through Faith in Jesus unto good works and is any way politically correct then leave and find one who does … if your preachers do not preach against homosexuality, against abortion, and sin in general then run and find one that does.
If your church is not taking Jesus to the community by doing the good works and being involved in the community then you will lose, find out which one of the Seven churches your church may be like, perhaps more. Revival will never happen in a liberal church or a worldly church. Can’t, because they don’t have the intestinal fortitude get in the trenches, pick up their cross and follow Jesus. They don’t have enough Jesus in them to preach the Bible and preach against sin and corruption in the church and in our nation’s politics. Vote get out and vote!

A Splintered Nation a Broken Church

Introducing my new book

Book Cover 003

Now I am looking for a good agent who will take it on.

Introduction

A Splintered Nation and A Broken Church is a book which will hopefully encourage the reader to get involved in restoring our nation to an independent sovereign Constitutional Republic. You must admit that our nation has been on a very long journey towards its demise, what started out to be a sovereign Constitutional Republic, with the founders being Protestant Christian, putting in place moral values, integrity, a Constitution demanding and guaranteeing freedom, equality, and a limited government for the people and by the people. The book sort of hop-scotches through the research concerning the history of our politics and political corruption, resting at times on some major misconceptions and turning points as corruption consumed the political landscape of our nation.
Do you find yourself wondering how and why we find our nation in the state that that it is? know when it started, know how simple political rivalry turned into political parties, with specific ideological agendas and how those agendas evolved into one global liberal socialist party, or socialism the new face of the Democratic Party. A long progression and evolution since its founder Andrew Jackson. With the election of Lincoln, a former Whig turned Republican to get elected, the Republican Party gained it permanency as most Whigs went Republicans. Nonetheless, both parties are corrupt and the common link of corruption is illicit gain both monetary and political power. The book explores the fullness of intent for their corruption and vile behavior, their vile corrupt conspiracy to control the people.
Control and power have established the Shadow Government that is a huge and grossly oversized bureaucracy of unelected officials, departments and agencies that control the people by regulations, the Shadow Government is protected by corrupt politicians of both parties, primarily the global socialists… the new face of the Democrat Party. President Trump ran with the Ideal of draining the Swamp, thinking it meant both the “Deep State” and corrupt Congress. However, the Swamp is the corrupt Democrats and the RINOs who have moved in the direction of money and political power. The size of our government is a mockery of what the founders envisioned in the Constitution. The book looks at the liberal conspiracy against the Protestant church since the 1960s and why should the liberals with the objective of taking control of the nation and now the ultimate objective of a North American Socialist Union and a powerful part of the Global Socialist Union. Research has revealed problematic conditions existed that could not be ignored but must be eliminated or made of no relevance, and that is where Protestant Christianity comes into the picture. The church is broken into two main theologies, liberal and evangelical or liberal and biblical theologies, regardless, the research reveals the division which liberal theology denies, the truth of the Bible it teaches about sin. The Bible is the basis of our moral values, integrity and the character of our culture is Christianity. However. from the time of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s United Nation’s Charter and the liberal activists of the 1960s exposes the real conspiracy of socialism 2009-16 as it was accelerated by Barack Obama, or Barry whatever the only President in our history who demonized the Bible believing Christians.
The research links politics and the church. It also links the Civil Liberties Act, originated with the Kennedy brothers, then the assassination of John allowed Johnson to implement the Act and take it for his accomplishment and opening the door for minority groups such as the ACLU, LGBT, NAACP, Communist Party of America, and the liberal Press, Nation of Islam, all of which were recruiting people groups for Democrat votes. All a little pushy and all joining in against the church, the Second Amendment, law enforcement, border security, The Boy Scouts, the Military, our Flag and all patriot or Christian expression even Christian cake decorators. However, it was the church and Christian values, ethics, integrity woven into the American Dream. The use of political correctness and the freedom of speech is for liberals only. Black-white-red-yellow-whatever, racism is the biggest tool in the liberal box, intolerance and sexual abuse, (the most hypocritical tools) and further against the church is the favorite of bigotry and a fantasy God and fantasy religion. A lie is now the truth, and vile activity including thuggery violence and breaking the law is only wrong if you are a Christian or conservative.
Things really accelerated since George HW Bush and his push for the socialist union and the UN. There has never been a viler and more lawless as Bill and Hillary Clinton, then George W. with his revenge war on Iraq, when he should have gone to Afghanistan. Obama brought a new attempt to destroy the nation in civil unrest, and violent thuggery. The real eye opener is in research, not what is reported in the “Mainstream News” and liberal social networking. Researching exposes links, and it is up to the researcher to explore those links, see where your candidate stands then vote, and yes, your vote does count. Secondly, by the nature of the beast proper research will give the individual an opinion, and everyone needs a studied opinion to help discern the players and the direction they are headed. I pray the book encourages you to research and be educated enough to protect your mind against the onslaught of evil wrong, against the socialist agenda for your freedom. In this book I hope you find enough material to spark your interest to step back and do your own research. Stand for the truth and don’t compromise on the truth or your faith, even though they call you closed minded, therefore, you won’t be suckered into believing the lies.

“When you reject the truth, you will believe lies.”

You will become a slave to liberal socialism.

Okay, So When are they going to fire?

Shareholders Rake Anti-Gun Dick’s CEO Over Coals During Public Shareholders Meeting

Now, Dick’s Sporting Goods is hearing from its stockholders.

Since the company reacted to the February massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School by betraying its customers who support the Second Amendment, Dick’s has been hit by the gun industry, from street-level stores to corporate decision-makers.

But at a shareholders meeting on Wednesday, Dick’s heard from people with skin in the game.

In a direct attack on Dick’s CEO Edward Stack and other members of the company’s board, shareholder David Almasi, vice president of the National Center for Public Policy Research, raked the company’s leadership over the coals.

To the company’s top officers, Almasi charged, “virtue signaling” was more important than the company’s sales.

After the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, Dick’s announced it would no longer sell AR-15s (the “assault weapon” liberals hate the most these days) and would restrict firearms sales to those 21 years of age or older.

Those might be considered defensible business decisions, perhaps with worries about liabilities in mind, but Dick’s directors went even further, hiring an anti-gun Washington lobbying firm to actively work against Second Amendment freedoms in the nation’s capital.

Almasi cited that decision in particular in his attack.

Listen to the whole thing here:

After the Parkland shooting, Almasi said, “Dick’s Sporting Goods immediately engaged in corporate virtue signaling, by ending the sale of AR-15s, high-capacity magazines and other accessories. Dick’s also no longer sells guns to people until three years after they’re eligible for military service.

“In addition, Dick’s reportedly hired lobbyists to promote gun restrictions, even though you’re literally in the business of selling guns …

“The company is willfully giving up money. It’s damaged its reputation by lending its voice and its resources to those who want to abolish the Second Amendment, even while the vast majority of … citizens support the amendment,” Almasi said.

“Thirty percent of Americans own guns and another 11 percent live with someone who does. Now you’ve alienated them.”

Will Dick’s regret its anti-gun positions?

According to Fox Business Network, Dick’s has made up for its losses in firearms-related sales in other areas and the stock has risen by 13 percent over the past month.

Liberals like the crew at ThinkProgress are crowing that that proves the Dick’s critics are wrong, but it could well be a short-term effect from the political moment. Dick’s got a lot of headlines out of its anti-gun stance, and liberals could well have decided to patronize the stories because of the publicity.

In the long-term, though, Dick’s has a vested interest in pleasing its outdoors customer base, and its anti-gun decision was a flagrant snub to millions of Americans who could well have been spending their money at Dick’s instead of at a competitor. And shareholders don’t like having company executives who are “willfully giving up money.”

It’s likely not the last time Dick’s shareholders rake the company execs over the coals.

The Left’s Chilling Refusal to Stop Flirting With Marxist Ideas

Karl Marx Marxism MarxistThe New York Times just can’t stop talking about communism.

Recently the Times ran an editorial headlined  “Happy Birthday, Karl Marx. You Were Right!”

The piece, written by Jason Barker, a professor in South Korea, is about what one would expect from a defense of communism. As one Federalist writer noted, it was “beyond parody.”

Hilariously, the article was behind a very capitalistic paywall.

The New York Times hasn’t shied away from publishing Marxist boosterism.

In 2017, the Times dedicated an entire section of its website to the 100-year anniversary of the communist revolution in Russia. It featured an assortment of absurd pieces running the gamut of declaring Lenin a hero environmentalist to claiming that women had better sex lives under socialism.

This romanticized account of life under communism is a delusion.

Of course, while the most ridiculous claim in the most recent piece is that Marx has somehow proven to be correct, it’s notable it goes a step further to say that essentially nobody questions his fundamental critiques of capitalism.

“While most are in agreement about Marx’s diagnosis of capitalism, opinion on how to treat its ‘disorder’ is thoroughly divided,” Barker wrote.

It seems fair to conclude that actually there is widespread doubt about Marx’s claims about capitalism—unless, of course, one lives in a neatly sealed left-wing bubble.

The fact is, Marx was wrong about everything.

He was wrong about economics, wrong about the flow of history, wrong about religion, wrong about where his ideas would lead, and most importantly, wrong about human nature—which he believed could be reshaped under a communist regime.

If there was one thing that was illuminating about Barker’s piece, it was his description of modern social justice crusades as fundamentally Marxist.

“Social justice movements like Black Lives Matter and #MeToo owe something of an unspoken debt to Marx through their unapologetic targeting of the ‘eternal truths’ of our age,” Barker wrote. “Such movements recognize, as did Marx, that the ideas that rule every society are those of its ruling class and that overturning those ideas is fundamental to true revolutionary progress.”

This is an interesting admission that these movements are essentially “cultural Marxism,” a phrase that the left so often stridently claims is a figment of conservative imaginations.

Given the profound failures of and misery created by communism in the past, we probably shouldn’t be too hopeful about the success of its modern iterations.

Unfortunately, many young people don’t know about the depths of these past failures, or have a skewed idea of what communism means in practice.

We should all worry about the consequences of historical ignorance.

At least Marx could conceivably say that “real communism hasn’t been tried yet.”

His modern proponents don’t have an excuse.

After nearly two centuries of experimentation with Marxist ideas, communism has failed to produce a brotherhood of man or a classless society in which everyone worked in blissful harmony.

Instead, it has produced societies notorious for their cruelty, dysfunction, and violence. It has led to the estimated death toll of just under 100 million people in the last century.

One only has to look at the Korean Peninsula to see the astounding difference of a society under communist tyranny and freedom.

As historian Sean McMeekin wrote in his book, “The Russian Revolution”:

Today’s Western socialists, dreaming of a world where private property and inequality are outlawed, where rational economic development is planned by far-seeing intellectuals, should be careful what they wish for … they may just get it.

Communism offers nothing to humanity but suffering and hopelessness.

This is not to say that life under communism was all about starvation and murderous purges.

Even at its least malignant, living under communism’s inevitable system of enforced conformity and equality where decisions are only the purview of government authorities and bureaucratic managers is hardly a system of human flourishing.

This is more akin to living a lifetime stuck in the DMV.

Marx was wrong, hopelessly wrong. His ideas have been tried, tested, and spectacularly failed.

It’s time to leave his legacy on the ash heap of history.

More on Stopping Mass Shootings

This is a repost from AMAC, (I am a member), but they do have great articles and this is one that shares my thoughts.  It is not the legal gun owner, but the bad guy with the gun.  and really no reason what so ever, to mess with the second amendment.

AMAC Calls For ‘Rational Debate’ On Gun Control

gun control debateWASHINGTON, DC – Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens, has called for “rational debate’ rather than politically motivated rhetoric” regarding the issue of gun control.

“The murder of innocent children in our nation’s schools by mentally disturbed individuals cannot be tolerated.  Nor should it become political campaign fodder.  Yet that is exactly what is bound to happen in the next eight months leading up the 2018 Mid-Term elections,” says Weber.

In the wake of the tragic mass shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens escalated the politics of gun control by calling for the full repeal of the Second Amendment.

Weber describes Justice Stevens’ solution as an “absurdly extreme way to control the use of firearms.  Not to mention that it would be perhaps the first time in American history that our own government would be taking away a Constitutional right.”

A scholarly critique of the rationale for gun control showed that many of the reasons cited for the need of more onerous regulation of firearms are deceptive.  One of the criteria cited is the notion that “homicides are largely ‘crimes of passion’ committed by otherwise law‐abiding citizens not distinguishable from other people.  Therefore, control must be directed at all gun owners rather than select criminal subgroups.”

Says Weber, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which keeps track of gun deaths, has found that nearly two-thirds of death by firearms in the U.S. were the result of suicides, accidents and legal interventions.  He notes that homicides accounted for only 33 percent of deaths.

Law professor Robert Delahunty has a different take on the need for more stringent gun control.  According to Delahunty, “progressives claim that more regulation of guns will deter violence and promote public safety.”  But, he says, they demure when it comes to the notion of abortion control.  “The progressive position seems to depend on what kind of laws they are talking about.”

Weber points out that he is in “no way” condoning indiscriminate sales of guns, particularly to individuals who are potentially a danger to themselves  and to others.

“The emotional and mental stability of gun buyers should, indeed, be a factor in deciding whether to allow such sales.  But, in addition we need law enforcement to be more proactive.  For example, there was plenty of evidence to identify the intentions of the shooter in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School incident.  The FBI and local police had been informed of who he was and what he was capable of.  He was said to go around introducing himself by saying, ‘Hi, I’m Nick. I’m a school shooter.’  Yet, the authorities seemed to ignore the threat he posed.”

More recently, however, police in Lexington, KY got an anonymous tip that a local high school student was threatening to shoot himself and others at his school.  The youngster had recently posted social media pictures of himself with a gun he had recently purchased.  Little time was wasted in obtaining a mental health petition apprehending him.

“Instead of disregarding the right to bear arms granted by our Founding Fathers in the Constitution, instead of targeting legitimate gun buyers and sellers, let’s focus on the reason for the mayhem.  We should be concentrating on the mental health aspects if the issue by finding ways of identifying those with problems and intervening and preventing further atrocities as school shootings,” according to Weber.

Helicopter Protesting

The March For Our Lives Was Just ‘Helicopter Protesting’

In a triumph of helicopter parenting, the ‘student-led’ March for Our Lives protest turns out to have been mostly organized and paid for by adult activists.
Robert Tracinski

By

The big “March for Our Lives” pro-gun-control demonstrations last weekend are being touted as the defining moment of the late millennial generation. Much as I like to think ill of millennials, second only to thinking ill of the Baby Boomers, such projections are unlikely to be true because, as Dave Marcus points out, they weren’t true of the Boomers, who were not defined by the hippies and went on to vote for Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.

“Neither of these generations, and in fact no generation at all, is defined by…media-hyped paradigms of what they think and do.” That’s especially true when we discover more confirmation that this spontaneous student activism isn’t so spontaneous, after all.

First of all, the numbers are in for the weekend rallies, and the crowd size is estimated at 200,000. That’s comparable to what we had in DC for the big Tea Party rally in September of 2009. It’s probably smaller than the nationwide Tea Party demonstrations in April of 2009. Perhaps a more direct comparison would be the almost identically named “March for Life,” an annual anti-abortion rally in DC that peaked at 650,000 people a few years back and regularly brings in protesters in the hundreds of thousands. And this is without the benefit of weeks of free publicity provided by the national media.

But these protests had the benefit of more than just free media. Under a carefully neutral title, “In Gun Control Marches, Students Led but Adults Provided Key Resources,” The New York Times basically admits that the marches are astroturf—artificial grassroots.

Although the events, which together drew hundreds of thousands of demonstrators across the country, were inspired and often led by students, many protests simultaneously benefited from groups with more financial resources and organizational skills than the teenagers had on their own….

Everytown for Gun Safety, which was founded and financed by Michael R. Bloomberg, the billionaire and former New York mayor, proudly declared that it had doled out more than $1 million in grants to local organizers. A nonprofit led by former Representative Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, arranged for more than 200 people from the Parkland area to attend Saturday’s march in Washington, and said it had worked with the owner of the New England Patriots, Robert Kraft, to use the NFL franchise’s plane to bring some people to the capital….

‘Our mission was to give them the biggest megaphone possible,’ Shannon Watts, the founder of an Everytown-affiliated group, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, said on Sunday.

There’s a lot more of this sort of thing in the report, but it’s all summed up in this amazing statement:

‘The kids did everything,’ said Jenn Hoadley, 36, who helped students organize a march in Anchorage. ‘All I did was say, ‘You want a stage? Cool. I’ll find one for you. You need a sound system? Cool. I’ll find one for you. You want to march in the park? I do paperwork to help you get that done.’ They planned it all, and they should be given credit for that.’

“The kids did everything” ends up meaning that they expressed their preferences and adults swarmed in to do all the actual work. Plus, in the words of another local student “organizer,” the adults “were paying for everything.” As we usually do. Oh, and all the angry rhetoric about politicians being bought and paid for by the National Rifle Association? That was spoon-fed to them, too, by a Parkland teacher whose “government” class apparently spent a lot of time railing against “special interests” and not much time on the Constitution.

I don’t blame the kids for this, not primarily. They are responding to a perfect storm of two big trends among the older generation. The first trend is the rise of protest culture, in which your entire personal and political identity are supposed to be tied up in which protests you attend. Combine that with helicopter parenting, in which parents are so eager for their kids to enjoy success and a wide range of experiences that they hover over the kids and hold their hands the entire way. I guess we could call this helicopter protesting.

This isn’t new. It’s a phenomenon I observed during campus protests a few years back, when the president of Claremont McKenna college announced “I’m holding a sit-in in my office.” As I wrote, “Today’s students are so coddled that they no longer have to make the effort to take over university buildings. Their elders will take it over for them. It’s like a weird kind of helicopter parenting: ‘Here, let me rebel for you, sweetheart.’”

Similarly, one education reformer observed the irony of the recent anti-gun school walkouts, “protests” that were effectively sponsored by the school’s own administration. “If students have permission to walk out, it’s no longer student activism at all. It’s a field trip.”

I have no doubt that the some of the kids from Parkland and elsewhere will do amazing things some day. Some of them already have, but they’re not here to talk about it. The rest will go on to accomplish much in their lives, eventually. But they will start to do that only after they emerge from under the protective wings and ideological influence of their teachers and parents and decide what they think on their own. Then maybe some of them will dare to launch protests without the permission and support of their elders.
